Monday July 18 - Into The Black Hills

Today we continue the march west as we head to Sturgis and Rapid City in South Dakota.

We will be leaving from the Sioux Fall Convention Center and fairground this morning.  The drive time estimate is 6 hours so it could be a long day...but the speed limit on any freeways we might have to get on is 80mph.  To Minis that means 90 and beyond.

We had pancakes and sausage for our Rise and Shine breakfast.

Along the way we saw some Sinclair gas stations like the one I grew up next to.

We saw almost as many Al's Oasis signs as we did for Wall Drug.

The Surprise & Delight for the day was a stop at the 1880 Town.  It's a pretty run down slice of American roadside fare but we looked around and played a little.

Oh no Pardner. That did not come in on the stagecoach.

Lunch was fun. We ate in the train cars.

Then we took the Badlands Loop Road before continuing on to Rapid City.

We arrived in Rapid City at 3:30 but we picked up a time zone so it was a pretty aggressive drive.

Tonight we have to motor on to Sturgis for the evening event.
